History (1997): Record Capacity of 240MB Into SanDisk Flash Card

The price of the new record-capacity card: $1,699, or $7 per megabyte.
Volume production starts in June.
SanDisk was also selected by Kodak so that its 2MB ($99 street price) and 10MB ($249)
CompactFlash can be used as memory on DC25, DC50 and especially DC120 (1.2 million pixels, $999) digital cameras.
For its part, competitor MSystems has launched its 72MB Flash DiskOnChip2000 in a 32-pin package. It will be available later this year. This version “will probably double next year,” said the company.
For now, M-Systems is shipping 2, 4, 8 and 12MB devices. The 8MB one is priced at $67 per unit for 10,000 pieces.
