IBM Elastic Storage System 3200 Storage Solution
For high-performance AI and workloads, up to 360TB of NVMe capacity
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 12, 2021 at 2:32 pmIBM Elastic Storage System (ESS) 3200 combines IBM Spectrum Scale for ESS software and IBM Spectrum Scale RAID with NVMe gen 4 storage in a 2U form factor. This solution accelerates AI workloads and optimizes GPU compute environments, as well as providing performance and availability benefits to other workloads.
Delivering information architecture for AI and leveraging its industry knowledge and leadership in high-performance parallel file system software, IBM Corp. can help thrive in the world of AI. It has demonstrated leadership with FlashSystems and Spectrum Scale by delivering fast HPCs, powered by Spectrum Scale.
ESS 3200 leverages the power of Spectrum Scale and flash memory technology to deliver high-performance storage tier for AI. It can provide over 80GB/s of throughput performance with low latency to optimize all types of I/O patterns and data layouts. This delivers data to applications faster and helps ensure maximum GPU resource utilization. The modular and scalable architecture supports 12 or 24 drives to enable an entry configuration of 24TB that is expandable to 360TB of NVMe capacity.
The ESS 3200 network supports up to 8x100GB RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE), 8xIB-HDR-200 ports, or a combination of both. The 2 redundant controllers in a 2U support HA and reliability. Embedded baseboard management controller (BMC) and remote control capability enable system administrators to manage network devices from a distance.
The improved containerized deployment and upgrade process enables fast time to value and continuous operations in minutes vs. days.
