History (1996): Mylex Acquires BusLogic

For roughly $50 million

Corporate regroupings are being actively pursued in the tiny world of controllers.

In 1995 alone, Photonics acquired DTC Data Technology, Adaptec snagged Future Domain and Hyundai purchased NCR Microelectronic Products (now Symbios Logic).

And now Mylex (Fremont, CA) has signed an agreement to acquire BusLogic (Santa Clara, CA). Approximately 2,710,000 shares of Mylex common stock will be issued in exchange for all outstanding shares of BusLogic stock, a transaction which amounts to roughly $50 million.

Mylex is a world leader in RAID controllers, while BusLogic is a privately-held company involved in SCSI I/O solutions.

In 1992, the Santa Clara, CA-based firm, then known as BusTek, took charge of a designer of RAID software, Chantal Systems.

BusLogic will continue to operate under its name and at its present location as a wholly-owned subsidiary.
