History (1995): Only One Taiwanese HDD Maker Zentek

Zentek Electronics, the only Taiwanese HDD drive manufacturer, has stopped production because of financial problems.

This company has been assisted by a government-sponsored research unit, the Opto-Electronics & Systems Laboratories (OESL) which has dropped HDD development due to lack of government funding. OESL now concentrates on R&D for optical disk drives.
