IBM Spectrum Scale for IBM Elastic Storage Server (ESS) 5.1 delivers enhanced storage management

Spectrum Scale Data Access Edition for ESS and Spectrum Scale Data Management Edition for ESS are updated to release 5.1.

This update provides enhancements to the ESS solution family of offerings by shipping the latest level of Spectrum Scale for file management.

Enhancements with 5.1 include:
A QoS management function which allows the storage administrator to specify limits on throughput to limit the resources consumed by any fileset, enhancing the ability of Spectrum Scale for ESS to support multiple simultaneous workloads.

Active File Management (AFM) support for both IBM Cloud Object Storage and S3 as an AFM target, providing the ability to migrate files between Spectrum Scale for ESS and Cloud Object Storage or AWS S3 to utilize all the flexibility and automation of AFM.

Support for Server Message Block and NFS protocols, including an upgrade to support NFS 4.1 and IPv6 support for protocol nodes.
