History (1995): EMASS Acquires Grau

Now independent, fully-owned subsidiary of E-Systems

EMASS Inc. (Garland, TX), a commercial products group within the $2 billion company E-Systems, Inc. (Dallas, TX), is now an independent, fully-owned subsidiary of E-Systems.

Also, EMASS has acquired two companies and certain rights from a third: 1/ Advanced Archival Products (Littleton, CO); 2/ an 80% interest in Grau Automation (Böhmenkirchen, Germany); 3/ the exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute Grau libraries in the US from Bosch Storage Systems (Bridgman, Ml).

Grau is an European manufacturer of automated storage 3480/3490 libraries and associated software for mainframe computers. Its installed base is a dozen libraries in the US and just over one hundred in Europe.

In 1992, Bosch International bought a 30% interest in Grau Automation. Some of its robots were sold by IBM and Hitachi Data Systems.
