This new plant, housed in the company’s former semiconductor packaging facility, will add to the already existing output from the Singapore facility.

The Malaysian plant will initially be capable of manufacturing a half million units per quarter, as a supplement to the current 2.1 million unit quarterly capacity in Singapore.

This article is an abstract of news published on the former paper version of Computer Data Storage Newsletter on issue 82, published on November 1994.

Note: Western Digital shuts down its Malaysian HDD factory in 2018.
