Wasabi And Stone Security In Partnership

Through this partnership, Stone Security customers will have access to enhanced cloud storage capacity for digital video surveillance files through Wasabi’s low-cost, flexible,  and cloud offering.

The migration from analog to Internet protocol (IP)-based video cameras has made the adoption of surveillance technology less expensive and more accessible for law enforcement, cities, retail locations, airports, large venues and workplaces around the globe. This increased use of video surveillance has led to a spike in file storage with a single day of video surveillance creating petabytes of data worldwide. With surveillance files needing to be saved for a considerable amount of time to be effective and compliant, companies are faced with a storage conundrum where traditional on-premise storage options are unsustainable due to limited capacity and increased risks of data loss.

By partnering with Wasabi, Stone Security is able to provide its clients with a solution to this problem by migrating file storage directly to the cloud. While traditional cloud storage options carry high-costs and rigid storage capacity that lead many to the same issues faced with on-premise storage, Wasabi’s hot cloud storage is offered at a fraction of the cost of major cloud providers with no data tiers meaning customers will have access to all video files at the same low price.

The surveillance industry handles extraordinary amounts of video storage with the number of files only increasing as our connected worlds become more expansive. These file sizes, along with the need to store them for considerable amounts of time, has not made cloud migration easy for most of the industry,” said Stone Security CEO, Brent Edmunds. “Wasabi represents the future of video storage and by partnering with them we believe we’ve finally cracked the code for effective cloud migration for surveillance applications.

Rigid capacity and a lack of sustainable storage have long been a thorn in the side of data-reliant industries. This is particularly evident in surveillance, an industry regularly dealing with video files which by nature are much larger in size than less data-intensive objects,” said Wasabi CEO and co-founder David Friend. “Fortunately, the cloud is a solution to most of this by providing an infinitely scalable storage option that offers more freedom than traditional on-premise solutions making surveillance applications ripe for migration. Our partnership with Stone Security demonstrates how access to flexible and cost-effective cloud storage liberates surveillance data and enables new opportunities for the surveillance industry.
