Japan Western Digital Entity Changes Name
From SanDisk Limited to Western Digital GK
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 14, 2020 at 2:02 pmWestern Digital Corporation announced plans to change the name of its Japanese entity from SanDisk Limited (HQ: Minato-ward, Tokyo, president, Atsuyoshi Koike) to Western Digital GK as of January 1, 2021.
Background
WD provides NAND flash memory, drive devices SDD and HDD to retail consumers, enterprises, and large-scale data centers. It provides total storage solutions, developing and mass-producing multiple products, including WD and SanDisk brands.
As part of ongoing integration activity, the company is renaming certain legacy entities to align with the Western Digital name. It aims to create a corporate structure that allows for quick decision-making and that can further contribute to its business partners. It will continue to market products under the Western Digital, G-Technology, SanDisk and WD brands.
