History (1993): Suits Where Conner, WD and IBM Involved

On HDDs

U.S. District Court in Northern California denied the motion of Conner Peripherals (San Jose, CA) for a preliminary injunction against Western Digital (Irvine, CA) on patent infringement covering hard disk drives.

IBM Corp. filed a suit against Conner Peripherals in U.S. District Court of California for infringing nine of its technology patents on Winchester drives.

Conner will countersue IBM for violating patents acquired from defunct PrairieTek. This case is odd since IBM is a main customer of Conner, filing a suit does not seem the best way to keep a customer.
