History (1993): European Population of 3480/3490 Automatic Libraries From Grau

Grau Automation (Bohmenkirchen, Germany) is part of the Grau group in which Bosch International has taken a 30% interest in the beginning of 1992.

Its main activity is the manufacturing of automatic tape libraries for 3480/3490 IBM-compatible cartridges.

These robotsnwere partly sold by IBM. The more recent ABBA/2 model will be marketed by Hitachi Data Systems.

Grau sold in Europe 97 ABBA/1 robots in 4 years, which is equivalent to 211 6,000-cartridge StorageTek silos, and 36 ABBA/2 robots, equivalent to 56 StorageTek silos.
