The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: An information processing apparatus includes a hard disk drive including a disk configured to store data therein and a head configured to access the disk and a control unit. The control unit causes the head to be retracted to a home position after a predetermined time period, based on an operation mode, has passed after performing control to cause the head to access the disk.
