History (1993): Silicon Valley Magnetics, Joint Venture Between Sunward and The Kaifa Group

Sunward Technologies (San Diego, CA) and The Kaifa Group in Hong Kong have established a new joint venture, Silicon Valley Magnetics, to manufacture thin film sliders in China and expand film wafer production operated by The Kaifa Group in Santa Clara, CA.

Near Hong Kong, Kaifa Technlogy (Sekon) Ltd. was expected to produce more than 2 million heads last year.

Sunward is partially owned by Conner Peripherals who has bought about 76% of its disk head production last year.
