History (1993): List of Rodime Victims on Patents Keep Growing

Since quitting manufacturing HDDs in 1991

Ever since it quit manufacturing HDDs in 1991, Rodime plc of Scotland has no other activity than trying to get money from its 3.5-inch technology patents.

The Scottish firm won suits or received royalties from Alps, Conner, Fujitsu, IBM, Maxtor/Miniscribe, Hitachi, Matsushita, and this year negotiated licenses with Hewlett-Packard, Fuji Electric, JVC, Myrica Technology in Singapore, Nippon Electric Co., Teac, Toshiba, VE Data and Vita Enterprises.

Last November, Rodime suited Seagate Technology, still for the same reasons.

This article is an abstract of news published on the former paper version of Computer Data Storage Newsletter on issue ≠60, published on January 1993.
