History (1992): Singapore Start-Up Myrica Buys Out Rodime

Myrica has Taiwanese financial backing from a computer furniture manufacturer and a textile company.
Myrica bought the exclusive rights to Rodime’s technology, its Singapore facility, its R&D operations in Scotland, and the Boca Raton, FL, staff shifted to San Jose, CA.
The Singapore’s plant has continued to produce around 10,000 3.5-inch 100 and 200MB drives per month. Myrica plans to produce this year in Singapore a one-inch high 3.5- inch drive developed in San Jose with a 562MB capacity and another unit of 1.2GB in the regular 3.5-inch from factcor and sell them under its own name.
Additionally, Myrica plans to have a local plant in Taiwan and another one near Shangai, in China.
