Imagine if all the storage devices and tiers in a data center could be built around an interoperable set of form factors, connector locations and a common interface protocol. That was the topic discussed by storage vendors and their data center customers at the 2020 Virtual OCP Summit Storage Project Update. What if HDDs were available that used the NVMe interface, now used for NAND flash and Optane SSDs.
