History (1991): New Plant in Malaysia by Conner Peripherals
After Singapore, Malaysia, Scotland and Italy
By Jean Jacques Maleval | March 20, 2020 at 2:15 pmConner Peripherals Malaysia is the name of a new 43,000 square-foot plant set up in Prai, Malaysia, by Conner Peripherals (San Jose, CA).
The investment amounts to $40 million.
This plant began operating last April and should manufacture 400,000 drives this year, mostly 60 and 100MB 3.5-inch HDDs, and 1.5 million units in the next 2 years.
3,000 employees should work there at year end.
This new plant was a necessity since the Singapore one, Conner Peripherals Singapore, ran at full capacity with a production of 4 million drives in 1991.
Conner now owns four manufacturing plants in 4 different countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Scotland and Italy.
