Panasonic Intellectual Property Management Assigned Four Patents

Optical disc, information reproduction method and information reproduction apparatus, recording and erasing user data on recordable optical disc, optical disc apparatus

Optical disc
Panasonic Intellectual Property Management Co., Ltd., Osaka, Japan, has been assigned a patent (10,453,490) developed by Nakata, Kohei, Nara, Japan, and Nakasendo, Tsuyoshi, Hyogo, Japan, for an “
optical disc device.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: An optical disc device includes a first error correction coding circuit that codes the recording data according to a first error correction coding format, a second error correction coding circuit that codes the recording data according to a second error correction coding format, and a recorder that converts the recording data into a recording signal and records it on an optical disc. The second error correction coding format is different in an arrangement of the recording data from the first error correction coding format. The second error correction coding format is configured to generate a second parity code with a higher degree of redundancy. The recorder records the recording data coded by the first error correction coding circuit and only the second parity code in the recording data coded by the second error correction coding circuit.

The patent application was filed on December 18, 2018 (16/223,698).

Information reproduction method and information reproduction apparatus
Panasonic Intellectual Property Management Co., Ltd., Osaka, Japan, has been assigned a patent (10,424,335) developed by Takahashi, Yoshihisa, Shimoda, Daisuke, Kaida, Masaru, and Ito, Motoshi, Osaka, Japan, for “
information reproduction method and information reproduction apparatus.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: An information reproduction apparatus includes plural magazines in which optical discs are set, plural drives for performing recording and reproduction on an optical disc set therein, a changer mechanism that transports a magazine between its setting position and one or more drives and mounts and remove a prescribed optical disc or discs in and from the one or more drives by performing either one of a single move process and a multi-move process, and a controller. The controller judges whether to conduct the single move process or the multi-move process based on a reading data list and use statuses of the respective drives.

The patent application was filed on December 21, 2018 (16/229,508).

Recording and erasing user data on recordable optical disc
Panasonic Intellectual Property Management Co., Ltd., Osaka, Japan, has been assigned a patent (
10,410,671) developed by Takasu, Toshiaki, Yamamoto, Takeharu, and Yuba, Akinori, Osaka, Japan, for “apparatus and method for recording and erasing user data on a recordable optical disc.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: An information recording apparatus includes: a first memory which stores synchronization data for updating data on a recordable optical disc and/or adding data to the recordable optical disc, a second memory which stores erasure information indicating data to be erased, and a controller which controls addition, update, and erasure of data on the optical disc. The controller records the synchronization data onto the optical disc. After recording the synchronization data, the controller records, onto the optical disc, management information indicating the state of the optical disc on which the synchronization data has been recorded and the state of the optical disc resulting from erasure according to the erasure information. Subsequently, the controller closes the session. After closing the session, the controller physically erases the data to be erased which has been recorded on the optical disc.

The patent application was filed on August 22, 2018 (16/108,721).

Optical disc apparatus
Panasonic Intellectual Property Management Co., Ltd., Osaka, Japan, has been assigned a patent (10,395,689) developed by Kaida, Masaru, Ito, Motoshi, Shimoda, Daisuke, Osaka, Japan, and Kimura, Naohiro, Kyoto, Japan, for an “
optical disc apparatus.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: An optical disc apparatus includes: a controller configured to acquire information of an access result and access positions on an optical disc when an optical disc drive unit configured to optically access an optical disc optically accesses the optical disc, and a storage configured to store the information acquired by the controller.

The patent application was filed on February 22, 2018 (15/902,449).
