NetApp and itopia in Partnership
To bring storage-as-a-service to itopia cloud orchestration platform on Google Cloud
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 10, 2019 at 2:14 pmItopia, Inc., a cloud automation solution for Google Cloud, and NetApp, Inc. announced a strategic partnership to integrate NetApp Cloud Volumes Service with itopia’s cloud orchestration platform.
The partnership further simplifies the creation and management of Windows VDI on Google Cloud, solidifying itopia as a Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) solution for Google Cloud.
Traditionally, IT administrators are responsible for the management and maintenance of storage workloads within on-premises VDI environments. Now with both companies, businesses can move VDI workloads to Google Cloud and enjoy file speeds up to 10X faster compared to alternative solutions. Once deployed, workers can consume file storage without IT admins needing to worry about infrastructure upkeep burdens such as server patching and resource scaling.
“NetApp Cloud Volumes Service is unmatched in its ability to deliver fast, cloud-native storage performance and advanced data management for cloud applications,” said Jon Lieberman, co-founder and CEO, itopia. “Our customers run Windows workloads with a business-critical need for the high performance, HA, and specialized file-based interfaces that only NetApp can provide. itopia accelerates the migration path from legacy VDI to DaaS, and through this partnership, we’re making it even easier to deliver desktops in the cloud.“
itopia customers will benefit from Cloud Volumes Service’s multiple file storage performance levels, with NFS and SMB protocol services to support a range of Google Cloud and hybrid workloads.
“We are seeing the value our customers are getting from Cloud Volumes Services integrated natively into the Google Cloud infrastructure,” commented Anthony Lye, SVP and GM, NetApp cloud data services business unit. “We are excited to see this integration with itopia’s Desktop-as-a-Service solution as it represents further validation for the value of Cloud Volumes Service in the expanded cloud ecosystem.“
“itopia and NetApp are valued partners for Google Cloud,” said Manvinder Singh, director, partnerships, Google Cloud. “We are excited to see the two come together to bring the value of Cloud Volumes Service to enterprises looking to migrate their Windows virtual desktop environments to Google Cloud.“
