RAID, Inc. With Whamcloud’s Partnership Launches Pangea Turnkey Lustre on ZFS Storage Appliance

RAID Inc. partners with Whamcloud to deliver deployment and management for cost-optimized performance storage.

The company announced Pangea, a turnkey Lustre on ZFS appliance.

It is a performance, secure, ZFS-based Lustre appliance that leverages the affordability and customization flexibility of commodity hardware. The company works with customers to develop the combination of software and hardware for their specific needs, delivering a user-installable software stack that makes setup and maintenance with minimal staffing.

Pangea’s software tools were designed to simplify deployment and support by taking the guesswork out of both hardware and software complexity during set up, and expansion. ZFS Online Operating Module, or Z.O.O.M., will allow users to locate failed devices, scan subsystems, show inventory and more, furthering the value of the appliance.

The company has partnered with Whamcloud to provide this pre-configured, highly available software stack for Lustre. Easy to manage, this stack ensures systems won’t breakdown. Pangea is also supported by the firm and Whamcloud for deployments of all sizes.

Pangea was designed to scale, deliver a lower cost of ownership, a denser footprint and be easier to manage than other Lustre/ZFS products in today’s marketplace. Coming in with an all flash-based appliance or massive capacity in a low cost per gigabyte, multi-unit system, the appliance is flexible – all with painless paths for further expansion and lower TCO.
