Apacer Industrial-Grade PCIe NVMe Gen3 SSD Series With 64-Layer 3D TLC NAND

Up 960GB, 2,660/2,260 MB/s RW speeds, 345,000/172,000 IO/s, temperature between -40°C to 85°C

As 3D NAND flash memory cements itself as a core part of this technology suite, PCIe and NVMe are becoming dominant due to their rapid, reliable transmission speeds.

SSDs with these ports are rapidly going mainstream.
With an understanding of market demands and trends, Apacer Technology, Inc. has devoted more resources to PCIe SSD production, and announces the introduction of an industrial-grade PCIe NVMe Gen3 SSD series.

Equipped with a PCIe controller and based on 64-layer 3D TLC technology, it conforms to the NVMe spec. That means performance when it comes to data transmission and 4K random R/W operations.

In fact, the company’s engineers have documented 4K random R/W performance and continuous read /write speeds up to 345,000/172,000 IO/s and 2,660/2,260MB/s, respectively.

Like many industrial-grade the firm’s solutions, it is available with a  temperature range between -40°C to 85°C.

Apacer End To End Data Protection Flow

Multiple data protection mechanisms enhance reliability of transmission operations
The company’s PCIe NVMe Gen3 series products are augmented with LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) ECC engines and DataRAID, providing data error correction and backup mechanisms to ensure the correctness and accuracy of data transmission.

In addition, they are equipped with End-to-End Data Protection, an instant error detecting and correcting mechanism to ensure the integrity and correctness of data between the host and NAND storage areas during high-speed data transmission. This also improves data reliability.

Longer operational lifetimes thanks to reduced write amplification
More and more, industrial-grade customers are seeking out storage products with built-in technologies that can extend a drive’s operational lifetime. With the company’s Over-Provisioning technology, 7% or more of storage space is reserved to manage and execute the internal resources required for healthy NAND operation. These include Garbage Collection, Wear-leveling, and Bad Block Management, and can reduce Write Amplification and extend the life of an SSD. In addition, 4K random performance and background processing performance can be increased thanks to over-provisioning, to please customers who rely on heavy R/W operation.

Intelligent thermal management stabilizes system operation
Industrial-grade devices also need to be adaptable enough to survive in challenging temperatures. Over the years, the company has dedicated resources to creating thermal management systems for industrial-grade SSDs. Thermal throttling is good for preventing damage to components and data, but has the associated drawback of reducing processing speed.

Apacer Coreglacier Eng

With this in mind, the company developed a technology called CoreGlacier. This delivers heat dissipation and cools both the NAND flash memory and the IC controller, allowing fast devices to maintain their processing speeds with no reduction in performance. The technology is currently only standard on wide-temperature versions of this product.

When placed next to SATA drives, there’s no comparison: PCIe NVMe Gen3 SSDs consistently deliver superior performance.

Available in M.2 2280, M.2 2242 and CFX form factors, these products make storage solutions for industrial control systems and data centers.
