History (1994): Fuji to Buy Out B+F Microdisks

With factory turning out 10 million 3.5-inch FDDs annually

Fuji Photo Film Co. is to buy out its floppy disk manufacturing business in the US, which has been operated as a joint venture, B+F Microdisks (Bedford, MA), with the German manufacturer BASF, before the end of the year.

The factory turns out approximately 10 million 3.5-inch floppy disks annually, of which Fuji sells about 5 million in the U.S.

The production facilities and 230 employees will be taken over by Fujifilm Microdisks USA, an American Fuji subsidiary.
