German Printing Company Druckerei Rindt Selects StorMagic SvSAN

Achieving "50% performance" increase and "100% uptime"

StorMagic, Inc. announced a customer win with Germany-based Druckerei Rindt GmbH & Co KG.

Druckerei Rindt Selects Stormagic Svsan

The IT and printing services company manages its internal data for compute, and also printing and graphics data from customers. StorMagic SvSAN Advanced Edition was chosen as part of an environment refresh because it met their needs for a redundant, reliable, cost-effective Dell ESX/VMWare cluster system that offered high capacity, uptime and performance.

Druckerei Rindt previously used a single node Dell ESX server with local Datastore and VMWare hypervisor. The system presented a single point of failure, had slow performance rates and did not offer enough capacity to accommodate future storage needs. Druckerei Rindt was impressed with SvSAN’s reliability and cost efficiency in a multi-node hardware storage solution.

StorMagic SvSAN Advanced Edition added significant reliability and performance improvements into our environment,” said Sebastian Jerabeck, executive director, Druckerei Rindt. “StorMagic’s Predictive Storage Caching feature reduces I/O latency by identifying hot data, and ensuring that it is in cache.

Running on two Dell R740xD Servers, they chose SvSAN Advanced Edition, which unlocks datacenter class features like SSD caching and data encryption. In their new configuration, approximately 10 VMs reside on SvSAN shared storage per server. Windows Server 2012 R2-2019 are the guest VMs. The SvSAN cluster is managed through a WebGUI and VMWare’s vCenter plug-in.

Druckerei Rindt chose StorMagic SvSAN for several reasons, including:

  • Performance: It is experiencing a greater than 50% improvement in performance rates compared to its previous solution.
  • HA: It has experienced 100% uptime since installing SvSAN.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: SvSAN eliminates physical SANs by converging compute and storage into a lightweight commodity x86 server footprint, thereby lowering costs. SvSAN is on average 50% less expensive than traditional physical SAN alternatives.
  • Added Redundancy: Physical SANs must be taken offline to run maintenance operations and routine updates. With SvSAN, downtime is virtually eliminated.
