Broadcom, one of the world’s biggest chip companies, is close to doubling down on an unconventional move into software with a deal to buy struggling cyber security company Symantec for more than $15 billion. Agreement on a deal was close but could be delayed until after the July 4 holiday, according to people briefed on the move.
