Galaxy Microsystems Galax HOF Pro PCIe M2 Up to 2TB SSD, With Phison PS5016-E16 Controller
Supporting PCIe 4.0 x4, up to 4,800/4,000MB/s sequential R/W speeds, 1TB and 2TB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 5, 2019 at 2:19 pmGalaxy Microsystems Ltd. announces the Galax HOF (Hall Of Fame) Pro PCIe M2, SSD supporting PCIe 4.0.
It adopts Phison Electronics Corp.‘s PS5016-E16 controller, providing fast performance. The E16 is an 8-channel controller supporting NVMe protocol, it’s built on 28nm process and supporting PCIe 4.0 x4 technology.
Breaks 4GB/s barrier
As one of the early adopters of E16, the Galax HOF Pro PCIe M.2 shows performance. The 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen Desktop Processor with the AMD X570 chipset is a first PC platform to support PCIe 4.0 connectivity. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. is leading advanced technologies and was a driving force behind bringing PCIe 4.0 capabilities to market. With this platform, it achieves up to 4,800/4,000MB/s sequential R/W speed. Such speed out-performs the just-announced Galax HOF PCIe M.2, which is impossible without the advancement of PCIe 4.0 technology. This brings users fast application start-up speed and reduced game loading time.
“Galax has been focusing on improving user experience through innovation, the Galax HOF Pro PCIe M.2 is a result of joint co-operation between AMD, Galax and Phison, we are glad to be one of the first manufacturers to launch PCIe 4.0 based SSDs” said Alex Lam, CEO, Galaxy.
“We are happy to be a strong contributor of the strong PCIe 4.0 ecosystem. In joint force with AMD’s leadership PCIe 4.0 ready 3rd Gen Ryzen desktop processors, AMD X570 chipsets, and motherboard partners, Phison will be releasing its own PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe PS5016-E16 SSD solution to the market with branded SSD partners, completing the world’s first consumer affordable PCIe 4.0 PC application platform“, said K.S. Pua, chairman and CEO, Phison, “Through the strategic alliances, ecosystem partners can finally embrace the growth of emerging application markets that can benefit from high-performance computing, such as 5G services, 8K HD contents, and gaming, unlocking the gate to the new technology era.“
Besides the E16 controller, the Galax HOF Pro PCIe M.2 also utilizes Toshiba Memory Corp. original 3D NAND flash, and offers 1TB and 2TB as capacity option.
HOF signature colours
As with all HOF products, the Galax HOF Pro PCIe M.2 uses a white coloured PCB. The arrow-inspired silver heat-sink is built from quality aluminium using CNC process. It also comes with a copper pipe to enhance heat dissipation. This resulted in the product able to sustain its speed without thermal throttling for at least two hours.
Strong data protection
Besides performance, the unit also employs a number of technologies for data protection. These include LDPC, TCG OPAL, Pyrite, temperature monitoring, etc., enhancing data security and life span. ‘Only for Performance’ has been the design philosophy behind Galax HOF series for years. With the speed and performance driven by the E16 controller, it is a companion for next gen gaming or professional PC.
