Crucial Data Solutions Introduced Cloud Computing to eClinical Technology

Crucial Data Solutions, Inc. announces the availability of private cloud storage for clinical trials conducted on Clinical Studio, its signature electronic data capture (EDC) and trial management (CTMS) system.

The Clinical Studio implementation of private cloud infrastructure utilizes technology not seen in the clinical research industry. It is accomplished by integrating users, hosts, and their private clouds.

The company has also united cloud computing with mobile technology by offering private cloud storage for TrialKit, their native mobile app for iOS and Android. A fully featured EDC/CTMS system, it may be used in conjunction with Clinical Studio. This allows research professionals to manage studies on a computer, smartphone, or tablet with the assurance that the data resides on one server exclusively accessible to their organization.

Ease of use remained a focal point when designing this implementation. A single tap can take users from a study hosted in Raleigh/Durham to different study hosted in Australia. Full access to all studies, regardless of their location, from a device that fits in your pocket is now a reality.

Using a single sign-in credential, Clinical Studio users can access any host (organization account) to which they belong. Any host may have an unlimited number of studies. By tapping a host from a drop-down control on the web (Clinical Studio) or mobile app (TrialKit), users have quick access to studies that are being hosted on opposite sides of the planet. If a user wishes to create a new host, this can be done by selecting which cloud to place their host during the registration process.

For example, if the target host happens to be located on a private cloud which exists in Europe, that is no problem. Clinical Studio switches clouds in the background. The user never has to deal with clouds. Instead, they can belong to an unlimited number of hosts which can reside on any cloud, anywhere in the world.“

The company currently supports a variety of cloud technologies including the common modern solutions, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud enterprise services. The system supports hybrid clouds, which are configured to almost any specification, upon request.
