History (1988): Kao Acquired Sentinel for $11 Million
Both manufacturers of floppy disks

Kao will spend $29 million to build a new FD factory in Plymouth (MA), which will produce 3 million 3.5-inch floppy disks a month when completed next spring.
Sentinel, the third foreign firm acquired by Kao, employs 200 people and produces 5.25-inch diskettes.
Its annual sales amount to $30 million.
