United Overseas Bank Customer of VMware Cloud on AWS
First organisation in Southeast Asia adopting it

UOB will use VMware Cloud on AWS to support its digital journey as it fast-tracks innovation and application development in digital era.

VMware Cloud on AWS enables us to build our innovation platform on the cloud while maintaining our robust security standards. We are pleased to be the first company in Southeast Asia to use this integrated solution to power our innovation drive.“
Singapore businesses continue to ramp up on digital transformation – the nation was ranked second in the World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 20181. VMware Cloud on AWS brings a new scale to the country’s transformation journey as businesses have access to VMware’s enterprise software-defined data center to the AWS cloud with the same architecture and operational experience. Based on VMware Cloud Foundation, this hybrid cloud service delivers infrastructure and simplified operations from the data center to the cloud, enabling customers to migrate to the cloud, scale on demand and deliver on next-generation application strategies.
Jointly engineered by VMware and AWS in compliance with UOB’s security requirements, the platform enables applications deployed in this environment to benefit from disaster protection and optimized access to AWS’ range of services. It also reduces the cost and effort associated with migrating applications to the cloud by delivering infrastructure and operations that are consistent with those deployed within customer data centers, and extending tools, processes, and practices to support the most demanding applications.

Recent advancements to the service include:
- Improvements to DR-as-a-Service to deliver protection for large-scale and storage intensive workloads, while reducing the cost and complexity previously required to ensure the BC of mission-critical applications, cyclic workloads and Next Gen apps.
- Supporting large-scale, secure cloud migrations and application portability, enabling customers to more rapidly migrate applications and extend data centers to the cloud.
