Scale Computing Selected by Manufacturers in US and UK

Insight Lighting, M&H Plastics and Penlon

Scale Computing, Inc. continued momentum making IT professionals in the manufacturing vertical successful.

Its HC3 platform provides the flexibility, ease of use and scalability that customers in this industry require to create robust working environments. Insight Lighting, M&H Plastics and Penlon Ltd faced IT challenges including the need to improve the availability of critical workloads, rapidly scale their infrastructure and enhance DR capabilities.

Scale Computing Selected By Manufacturing Sector In Us And Uk

Insight Lighting, based in Rio Rancho, NM, was struggling with an outdated SAN and had experienced problems with its VMware licensing. After assessing several solutions, the company selected HC3 platform to support all of their server needs. This platform supports a SQL server for their ERP software, multiple licensing applications as well as file servers and domain controllers.

Tracy Burton, network administrator, Insight Lighting, commented: “The best thing about Scale Computing is its simplicity. I used a VMware solution for the past 5 years and never really felt like I had a grip on how to fully use it. I’ve had Scale Computing in place for less than 6 months and am already extremely confident in its capabilities.”

M&H Plastics, based in Winchester, VA, selected HC3 solution to create a virtualised IT environment without the complexity associated with more traditional solutions and to reduce IT operating costs, and also time spent managing infrastructure.

Stuart Twitchett, IT manager, M&H Plastics, commented: “We are still quite new to our HC3 implementation, but already we have seen the benefits in terms of the ease and rapid deployment of systems. Since deploying HC3, we have been able to halve time spent on IT system management and maintenance and cut time spent recovering from a hardware failure from as much as 24 hours to less than 10 minutes.

Penlon, a medical device manufacturing company, based in Abingdon, UK, also selected HC3 platform to achieve BC and simplified management.

Tony Serratore, head of IT, Penlon, commented: “The Scale Computing solution fits perfectly with our IT roadmap as we can add capacity as and when needed. We don’t need to over provision and can simply expand our environment on demand. In addition, Scale Computing has enabled us to reduce our RPO and RTO.

HC3 combines virtualisation, servers, storage, and backup/DR into a single solution. All of the components are built together into the solution, including the hypervisor, without the need for any third party components or licensing. Every component has been designed for a highly available, self-healing, virtualisation infrastructure that is easy to manage locally or remotely.

Rather than treat storage, servers, virtualisation and management as different silos, these installations demonstrate the successful way in which HC3 combines them in a comprehensive system and automates overall management,” concludes Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder, Scale Computing. “IT administrators spend less time managing infrastructure and more time on other strategic projects. With no virtualisation software to license and no external storage to buy, HC3 lowers costs and simplifies the infrastructure needed to keep mission critical manufacturing applications running.
