NAB: OWC Launches ThunderBlade Gen 2 External SSD and Jupiter Mini 5-Bay Up to 70TB Storage System

OWC (Other World Computing, Inc.) announced its itinerary for the 2019 NAB show, taking place April 6-11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, NV.

On the heels of the company’s three recent acquisitions and its March 2019 growth and expansion announcement, the company showcased two new storage system upgrades that deliver transfer speeds and reliability for creative professionals with storage-intensive workflows. Both the upgraded ThunderBlade and Jupiter mini 5-bay will be on display at NAB, along with the company’s lineup of Mac and PC products and solutions. The firm will also showcase an array of storage solutions from recently-acquired Akitio.

ThunderBlade Gen 2
The ThunderBlade Gen 2 is a fast external drive, capable of completing a 1TB content transfer in under four-and-a-half minutes.

It offers performance and fanless external Thunderbolt storage for media professionals who need fast, reliable storage for managing massive workflows. Designed to be rugged and dependable as well as fast, ThunderBlade is equally at home on the road, on set, or in the edit suite. With two Thunderbolt 3 ports, ThunderBlade fits daisy-chain workflows, and it delivers the performance to match – capable of transfer speeds of up to 2,800MB/s. And with SoftRAID, two ThunderBlades can reach up to 3,800MB/s.

Jupiter mini 5-bay
The Jupiter mini 5-bay is the latest enterprise storage system from the company. Designed for multi-user performance in dynamic workflow environments, this system i for the demands of creative professionals. It is configurable and scalable, giving professionals the future-proof environment they need. Featuring a 10GbE base configuration for speed, it  saves time in every workflow. It is available in 20TB or 70TB configurations, and sports both a PCIe expansion slot and an M.2 slot for adding additional networking, SSD or HDD storage, or performance caching.

• ThunderBlade Gen 2 (MSRP: Starting at $799)  available on the firm’s website in up to 8TB capacity.

• Jupiter mini 5-bay – Will be available in 2Q19, in 20 or 70TB configurations.
