Dropbox Patents Declared Invalid
Related to storage and security
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 19, 2019 at 2:20 pmBloomberg Law has published an article concerning this affair: “A patent infringement claim asserted by Dropbox Inc. backfired March 13, when the Northern District of California invalidated its two patents at issue. Dropbox’s data storage and security patents were directed to abstract ideas and ineligible for patent protection, the court ruled. Dropbox alleged that Synchronoss Technologies Inc. infringed U.S. Patent Nos. 6,058,399 and 6,178,505 with its Personal Cloud data backup product. Synchronoss argued that the patents were invalid, and the court agreed.“
