As of December 2018, there are 100 companies that are shipping 380 NVMe or NVMe-oF based products. Of these companies, only 20 are SSD IP companies (two years ago, these companies were nearly in the majority of NVMe companies, since few companies were shipping production products yet). 40 companies build and ship NVMe SSDs (a total of 127 models), while 17 companies build a total of 121 models of NVMe servers. Also since the initial report, a new NVMe flash media format has emerged known as Enterprise/Data Center Small Form Factor (EDSFF) that specifies a form factor for removable SDDs that is optimized for flash storage.
