Abstract: “Transition curvature in heat-assisted magnetic recording can limit the linear recording density and reduce the readback signal amplitude. In this paper, we describe a simple model for the prediction of the transition curvature and use the model to determine the heat source location, relative to the write head, that minimizes transition curvature.“
