Sungard Availability Services Got AWS Storage Competency Status

Sungard Availability Services LP has achieved AWS Storage Competency Partner status, demonstrating success in helping customers manage the recovery and backup of their cloud environments by leveraging Sungard 40 years of experience in DR as a Service (DRaaS). 

The AWS Storage Competency recognizes AWS Partner Network (APN) consulting and technology partners who have demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success for the respective use-cases. This includes backup and recovery operations to, from and within AWS; primary storage using IP file or block protocols and object storage; active and passive data archiving services to appropriate storage tiers; and BC/DR (BCDR) solutions.

As an AWS Storage Competency Partner,
Sungard has validated that it has: 

• Achieved a record of providing storage solutions that can scale to meet virtually any size of workload;
• Met security best practices, including proving that its solutions are aligned with AWS security best practices and AWS risk and compliance;
• Demonstrated storage proficiency for BC/DR and backup, as well as primary storage;
• Built a framework that supports good governance and compliance requirements; and
• Made its products and solutions available in three or more AWS regions.

Sungard introduced another customer, Expert Revenue Systems Ltd (XRS), to cloud recovery – AWS to help it comply with Article 32 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which requires a documented SLA and recovery service with a four-hour RPO. Sungard cloud recovery – AWS includes an SLA-backed service for DR, assuring availability and recoverability of service. This positioned XRS for GDPR compliance ahead of schedule, while offering its own customers greater protection against possible data corruption.

AWS powers businesses from start-ups to enterprises by providing scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions. To support the integration and adoption of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Competency Program that helps customers identify consulting and technology APN partners with the industry experience and technical acumen to help them benefit from AWS’ offerings.

Last month, Sungard also achieved AWS MSP partner status after meeting the criteria of an independent audit. The company also became a new member of the AWS solution space partner program, featuring APN partners that offer customer-ready solutions based on architectures validated by AWS.
