John XXIII College in Perth, Western Australia, Chooses Veeam

Replacing legacy systems and consolidate DR time "by 50%"

Veeam Software, Inc. announced that John XXIII College in Perth, Western Australia, has selected the software company to replace its legacy systems and consolidate its DR and availability solutions, simplifying its IT environment while mitigating risk and creating scalability for the future.

Australian Paper Select Veeam

Veeam Backup Essentials reduced the college’s RTOs by 50% and created an 83% time saving on daily DR health checks.

The top priority for the college is to support students to achieve academic and personal excellence, and IT is a core support element for this mission. Data and applications for learning, administration and former students’ use cases need to be accessible 24/7 from any device that students or staff use.

John XXIII College’s existing IT environment had evolved out of several fragmented and specialised legacy systems. The introduction of Backup Essentials allowed the college to consolidate DR and availability under one umbrella solution.

It delivers availability for all workloads – virtual, physical, cloud (including vSphere and Hyper-V) – from a single management console. It combines the backup, restore and replication capabilities of Backup & Replication with the monitoring, reporting and capacity planning functionality of Veeam ONE.

The availability that the form enables is paramount to students’ learning, and also to services like payroll, HR, finance and alumni services, which all play critical roles in the overall operation of the college.

Yugon Chobanoff, ICT operations manager, John XXIII College, said: “As time goes on and our staff and students become more dependent on information and communication technologies, the pressure of consistent and available uptime is greater. With Veeam, we’re now confident our systems are protected and easily restored if we need. It’s easy to scale and anyone on the team can own the process intuitively and with simplicity.

The simplified visibility is a huge advantage – when an application has an issue and starts eating up memory or CPU resources, the Veeam ONE monitor alerts us to the problem and we can intervene, avoiding a potential server failure. I get an immediate snapshot of where my VM stack is at, meaning I’m now spending about 20 minutes a day on things that had been taking up to two hours a day“, he added.

Veeam’s partnership with John XXIII College in Perth, is testament to the growing demand for Intelligent Data Management across all industries,” said Gary Mitchell, VP, Veeam ANZ. “At Veeam, we work hard to take the guess work out of data management. We’re very proud that John XXIII College now have peace of mind in their data’s availability, thanks to Veeam.
