It is designed to provide performance for the easy, flexible, and data-efficient, software-defined storage solution. As data volumes grow and applications become more capable, more companies need the fast, highly available, and highly scalable data access of Spectrum Scale to drive their business. Spectrum Scale Data Management Edition spans the enterprise storage portfolio, including flash, disk, tape, local, and cloud storage.
Edition V5.0 delivers the functionality needed to store and access data through all supported protocols. It also includes quotas, snapshots, administrative GUI, compression, QoS control, and file sets. Data Management Edition includes the ability to create optimized tiered storage pools, information lifecycle management tools for simplified data management, data access using AFM asynchronous replication, multi-site DR, native encryption, and hybrid cloud storage.
Offered with a terabyte metric, Data Management Edition does not require to separately purchase client, server, or FPO licenses. Instead, you can license the total storage capacity managed by Spectrum Scale.
Key prerequisites
IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE servers running a supported Linux OS, and a minimum of 2GB of system memory. Power Systems servers running supported AIX or Linux OSs, and x86-64 servers running Linux or Windows OSs.
