HighPoint SSD7102: Four-Channel M.2 NVMe RAID Controller With Boot Capability

$399 for SSD7102, SSD7101A-1 and SSD7120 models, $799 for SSD7110

HighPoint Technologies, Inc. launches the SSD7102, a four-channel M.2 NVMe RAID controller with boot capability, and designed for use with any Intel or AMD workstation platform.

Like all SSD7100 series RAID controllers, the SSD7102 packs the power of 20x SATA SSD’s into a compact, integrated PCIe 3.0 x16 controller no larger than your average video adapter. Performance-focused architecture ensures the PCIe 3.0 x16 host interface is equally distributed amongst the M.2 slots, providing dedicated x4 transfer bandwidth for each individual SSD; four-times faster than the majority of NVMe RAID controllers or solutions. No other NVMe controller delivers this level of performance and versatility.

Fast and versatile NVMe booting solution
The SSD7102 was designed to support a variety of NVMe-based boot configurations for Windows based OSs, across both Intel and AMD workstation platforms. Customers can configure up to four independent bootable volumes, one per M.2 drive, or boot from one or more RAID arrays.

  • Rapid-Boot: To minimize boot-time while maximizing transfer performance for core applications, RAID-0 is an ideal configuration. Customers can configure up to two RAID arrays, composed of 2 M.2 SSD’s, or a single large RAID-0 array using all four M.2 slots.

  • Secure-Boot: RAID-1, also known as mirroring, is for applications that require additional layers of data security for their boot volumes. Customers can configure up to two RAID-1 arrays, comprised of two M.2 SSD’s, and set each to operate as a separate boot volume.

  • Multi-Boot: Each M.2 SSD can be used independently, if RAID is not desired or required. Customers are free to install a different OS to each of the four volumes.

Designed for Intel and AMD platforms
Unlike many NVMe controllers or solutions, which are often restricted to specific motherboards or chipsets, the SSD7102 is compatible with both Intel and AMD based workstation platforms. Its fast performance, combined with NVMe boot capability, makes it a system acceleration solution for nearly all modern computing platform with a free PCIe 3.0 x16 slot in today’s marketplace.

Price and availability
The SSD7102 will be available in November of 2018, direct from the company and certified reseller and distribution partners.
