G2E: Apacer Showcase 3D TLC NAND NVMe SSDs for Gaming Storage

With TCG Opal 2.0 data security protection preventing illegal invasion

From October 9 through 11 of this year, Apacer Technology, Inc. participated in Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas, NV, to showcase products and technology for gaming equipment storage, all of which meet requirements for the new generation of gaming equipment.

The company aims to actively expand its shares in the global memory market for gaming equipment.

3D NAND NVMe SSDs process high-end video and audio without lag
With the development of video technology, the high resolution 4K/8K curved surface Ultra LCD replaces traditional mechanical gaming machines and comes accompanied by dazzlingly colorful video and audio. Only high performing memory can process video and audio programs without delay in content playback. The company is launching a brand series of NVMe/PCIe products that are designed using industrial-grade 3D TLC NAND and come with built-in over-provisioning technology. Their sequential R/W speed is at 3,300/2,600MB/s respectively. These products have the ability to operate smoothly at high speeds, allowing them to process a range of high-definition video and audio effects with ease.

TCG Opal 2.0 data security protection prevents illegal invasion
The gaming machine is a piece of high-yield entertainment equipment which stores strictly confidential information, such as betting odds, adjustment standards, cash flow data, and member accounts. The built-in storage system must thus be proof against errors or vulnerability. The company has created TCG Opal 2.0 storage solutions that utilize a data protection mechanism for gaming machines with tailor-made levels of access for customers. Under ech access level, customers can perform more elaborate operations and modify settings. This includes reading/writing data, setting passwords, and customizing instructions. Multiple check points for all possible operational behaviors are designed and matched with AES technology. With dual protection in the software and hardware, data security is preserved under the rigorous protection net.

CoreLife breaks through R/W bottleneck and extends SSD lifespan
Once a slot machine becomes popular or enters a high usage period, it continuously has new data randomly written to it in massive amounts. The existing data in the attached SSD needs to be constantly relocated and written in. Such operations not only affect data reading and writing efficiency, but also shorten the lifespan of the SSD in the long run.

CoreLife is designed to break through such a bottleneck. By reading and writing continuous small data, an SSD with built-in CoreLife technology can read and write data twice as quickly as a regular SSD. It is also able to sustain eight times more P/E cycles than a SSD with an MLC chip and 1.25 times more cycles than one using SLC-lite. The CoreLife technology provides continuous random write performance and enhances the product’s durability and lifespan.

The firm has years of experience in the gaming storage market and is backed by a R&D team.

The company has received recognition from the industry for its professional and prompt service. Cindy Huang, director, vertical market application business division, Apacer, promises, “Apacer has been dedicated to satisfying the needs of the gaming industry and continuously developing highly reliable memory products. Our unchanging mission is to help our customers enhance their market competitiveness. We will uphold our original vision of ‘trustworthy and reliable’ to serve our customers to the best of our ability while expanding Apacer’s territory in the gaming storage market.
