Paragon Expands Collaboration With Western Digital
For File System Link technology on WD and G-Technology branded products
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 26, 2018 at 2:42 pmParagon Software Group Corp. expanded its longstanding collaboration with Western Digital Corporation for broader use of Paragon’s File System Link technology by introducing File System Link to select WD and G-Technology branded portable and desktop drives.
Consumers are faced with growing volumes of content, as well as multiple, incompatible technologies that make management of content a daunting task. Paragon helps WD and G-Technology customers preserve and share their memories, whether they’re using a Mac or a Windows machine.
Under the agreement, effective immediately, Paragon File System Link drivers, Microsoft NTFS for Mac by Paragon Software and HFS+ for Windows, are being distributed to WD consumers as part of Western Digital’s WD Discovery application. The G-Technology consumers will find the Paragon HFS+ for Windows utility on select external HDDs or as a download from the G-Technology Windows support webpage. Once the consumer installs Microsoft NTFS for Mac by Paragon or HFS+ for Windows onto their Mac or Windows PC respectively, they gain R/W access to the NTFS formatted drives on Macs, and to HFS+ formatted drives on Windows PCs.
Paragon File System Link features utilities that help maintain file system integrity and protect consumers’ stored data, while delivering performance for playback of HD video content (such as 8K and omni-directional VR cameras, with no limits on file or volume size).
“Through the years, as our relationship with Western Digital has evolved, their commitment to a world-class partnership has been consistent and commendable,” said Tom Fedro, president, Paragon. “We’re very proud that Western Digital has turned to Paragon once again to optimize connectivity and ensure an OS-independent user experience for their customers.“
Western Digital first engaged with Paragon Software Group in 2009 to license Paragon’s embedded File System Link based NTFS and HFS+ drivers. In 2016, Paragon’s embedded exFAT technology was selected by Western Digital across a range of NAS devices – as part of an expanded software license agreement.
Paragon Software Group is a Microsoft preferred supplier of exFAT.
