“We looked at every component of EVO to find new ways to bring professional post-production and broadcast teams better performance with fewer disks,” says Eric Newbauer, VP, and CTO, Studio Network Solutions. “With the new v6 8-bay and 16-bay, models, EVO is capable of incredibly high throughput, and post-production facilities can achieve up to 70% higher performance than with comparable shared storage systems.“
EVO is challenging the conception that high bandwidth workflows, like the ones found in VFX and finishing, require expensive and complicated SAN deployments. With expanded SSD support and 50GbE configurations, version 6 EVO’s can support 16-bit 4K (DCI) DPX and OpenEXR workflows with a single eight-disk system.
ShareBrowser, EVO’s inegrated media asset management software, has also gotten significant upgrades for IBC 2018. ShareBrowser v5 will help post-production teams of all sizes get a head start on logging their media with AI. Using AI auto-tagging will help teams eliminate hours of logging with a single click, reducing the time required to log a day’s shoot, organize a library of b-roll, or catalog archived projects.
AI auto-tagging allows users to automatically create searchable tags for their media with a single click.

The company will be showcasing integrations for DaVinci Resolve Studio 15 and Adobe Premiere Pro as well. Teams can now take advantage of Resolve’s collaborative features by hosting the Resolve PostgreSQL database on EVO. They can also utilize Resolve’s media management tools with a new metadata integration for ShareBrowser comments and keywords that lets editors bring their tags and comments from ShareBrowser into Resolve, so they can continue to leverage their metadata throughout the creative process.
The firm will also be previewing ShareBrowser for Adobe Premiere Pro CC, an Adobe Premiere Pro panel that will let teams easily search, tag, comment, and access media from ShareBrowser without leaving their Premiere Pro workspace.

“Your server is the center of your workflow, and it needs to be more than just a place to store your media. That’s why we’ve made built-in media asset management, automation, and NLE integrations the norm-not add-ons, bundles, or expensive third-party options,” says Newbauer. “It makes for a more integrated workflow, and a more cost-effective solution that’s easier to use and maintain.“
Notable EVO and ShareBrowser updates for IBC include:
-
Dozens of GUI enhancements and design improvements
-
Public API for ShareBrowser
-
