Availability for Retrospect Backup 15.5 Software

With subscription licensing model starting at $5/month, hosted management console, and support for Windows Server 2019, Ubuntu 18.04, and macOS Mojave

Retrospect, Inc. announced the availability of Retrospect Backup 15.5.

Retrospect Backup 15.5 software

This version of the company’s data protection suite will support subscription licensing for its consumer editions: Retrospect Solo for $5 per month and Retrospect Desktop for $15 per month, starting in late September. Also included in the product release is early access to Retrospect Management Console, a hosted application for managing multiple Retrospect installations, and a host of enhancements and certifications.

Subscription licensing
The company
launched Backup Solo in March 2018 to ensure every computer, external HDD, and email account could be protected with the same enterprise features that businesses utilize. Starting this month, Retrospect Backup is more affordable with subscription-based pricing. The firm’s consumer editions – Solo and Desktop- will be available in late September as a monthly or yearly subscription. Subscriptions include support and all product updates while the subscription is active. Data is never held hostage, and products with inactive subscriptions are always able to restore their backups.

Subscription pricing is a common request from businesses interested in migrating IT infrastructure from capital expenses to operating expenses. The company’s server editions will be available as subscriptions in select markets later this year.

Retrospect Management Console
Businesses need complete visibility into their IT environment. Retrospect Backup enables customers to protect hundreds of machines with one engine, and now with Retrospect Management Console, businesses will be able to monitor their backup infrastructure on our
hosted service. With Management Console, IT admins can monitor dozens of backup engines with a single interface and view it remotely, even on their phone. Management Console leverages the same data hooks that are available in Retrospect Backup dashboard to provide a consistent, scalable interface for displaying one, ten, or a hundred backup engines on a single screen.

MSPs and resellers need another level of data aggregation and analytics for ensuring the IT infrastructure for their entire customer base. With the Management Console, they will be able to monitor all of the engines across their clients in a single view, with notifications of which customer and computer are experiencing data protection issues.

Management Console is in public beta and available at no cost.
