Corgan MediaLab Selects OpenDrives Shared Storage Solutions
To revitalize media workflows
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 11, 2018 at 2:31 pmOpenDrives, LLC, a provider of fast shared storage solutions, has been selected as the storage solutions provider for architectural firm Corgan’s media wing, Corgan MediaLab.
OpenDrives enables Corgan MediaLab to produce its content, ranging from animation and motion graphics to VFX and 3D renderings, faster through an accelerated workflow solution via OpenDrives shared NAS.
Corgan MediaLab engages in many different forms of video production and post-production in order to develop video narratives for their clients spanning several industries. The central goal of the group is to allow its creative artists to work in real-time in a collaborative environment.
VFX creative director and VP of Corgan MediaLab, Ludovick Michaud had observed widespread difficulties with the group’s creative workflow and, more specifically, pinpointed the legacy storage infrastructure as the IT bottleneck. Despite a robust fiber-optic based internal network, data transfer speeds remained unacceptably slow and Corgan MediaLab needed a storage solution that could leverage the fiber-optic network investment.
Corgan MediaLab transformed their media workflow to an integrated shared environment by implementing OpenDrives’ NAS systems, resulting in faster video production workflows. By implementing its Summit production storage solution with Ridgeview backup and archiving solution, OpenDrives allows the team at Corgan MediaLab to collaborate on very large media files together as well as replace an old tape-based workflow and painlessly reuse footage.
“We use a mixed bag of applications and we wear many hats at the intersection of workflows and technology,” Michaud said. “I was looking to solve specific workflow issues for multiple applications and workstations. No one can even come close to what OpenDrives does for the speed and reliability. We have seen our project load times go from 1:45 hours to 11 minutes with OpenDrives.“
