This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 14, 2018 at 2:18 pmWith the enforcement of GDPR and the general heightened awareness of personal data security, Verbatim Ltd, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Media owned by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, has dedicated its presence at IFA to products that keep your data safe and secure and will showcase for the first time its range of encrypted USB drives, external HDDs and SSDs.
Store’n’Go HDD
“Data security and GDPR have been the watchwords of 2018 and as one of the world’s leading storage companies, Verbatim is focusing its attention on products providing reliable data protection at IFA this year,” said Hidetaka Yabe, president, Verbatim GmbH. “Personal or company confidential data getting into the wrong hands could have extremely serious consequences, so there should be no excuses from anyone handling sensitive data to not use encrypted devices.”
Secure PRO USB
The products in the security range being demonstrated at IFA will include Store’n’Go HDDs and SSDs with built-in keypad for password entry, the Freecom Tough Drive and the Secure PRO USB. There will also be a USB storage key that uses biometric fingerprint security to unlock the encrypted device – users who are comfortable with fingerprint access on mobile devices can now use the same technology to store and access data on the encrypted device. All utilize AES 256-bit hardware encryption which is a level of security that has never been hacked.
The company will have laptop bags on display that include a RFID Secure Pocket that uses a special material with integrated metallic layers that prevent thieves from electronically scanning and stealing the information from the microchips embedded in credit/bank cards and passports.
Freecom Celeritas SSD
Thunderboldt 3 SSD
The company will showcase for the first time its Thunderbolt 3 external SSD. The Freecom-branded device, mSSD Celeritas Thunderbolt 3, is a fast drive that can deliver transfer speeds of up to 2,800MB/s (1), which is twenty times quicker than regular HDDs. As well as being fast, the Thunderbolt port is versatile and uses the common USB-C connector to connect to most modern devices, making it for video content creators as well as business and IT professionals where the transfer of large data files at high speed is critical.
