FMS: AIC Delivers 2U NVMe Storage Server FB201-LX
24x2.5-inch hot-swappable NVMe drives, board with dual scalable processors, 24xDDR4 DIMM, up to four PCIe X16 add-on cards support, two PCIe X16 OCP Mezzanine cards support (optional), and CRPS 1200W/1600W 1+1 redundant PSU
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 6, 2018 at 2:31 pmAIC, Inc. announced general delivery of FB201-LX, a performance balanced machine that provides well-balanced performances among the NVMe drives, memory subsystem and interconnection network adapters.
The FB201-LX is designed with the philosophy that keeping a well-balanced CPU, memory and I/O subsystems will help customers to deliver symmetric I/O machines to deal with either ‘Byte Addressable’ memory subsystems or ‘Block Addressable’ storage subsystems. With that, the company architects the byte movements for NVMe drives, memory subsystem and interconnection networks, to deal with the parallelism of applications and try to achieve scalable performance for I/O intensive applications.
FB201-LX key specifications:
-
2U 24×2.5″ hot-swappable NVMe drives
-
AIC Lynx server board with dual scalable processors
-
24xDDR4 DIMM
-
PCIe switch base design for NVMe drive connection
-
Up to four PCIe X16 add-on cards support
-
Two PCIe X16 OCP Mezzanine cards support (optional)
-
CRPS 1200W/1600W 1+1 redundant PSU
“We always try to design a server or a storage system that can benefit all performances and functions provided by new computer architectures nowadays,” said CT Sun, CTO and VP, engineering, AIC. “For NVMe storage servers, the key is how the systems can deliver compute and I/O capabilities properly.“
“The Pikes Peak is an excellent platform, designed with great rigor and capabilities that meet all our needs from PCI card slots, NVMe storage, to high reliability and performance,” said Stephen Sicola, EVP and chief architect, Formulus Black. “AIC has done a marvelous job with Pikes Peak, giving Formulus Black, a software company, the opportunity to provide our customers with the platform that allows our software to meet or exceed its mission.”

FB201-LX targets at the applications that demands memory and I/O intensive markets, which includes support for massive databases with scale-out storage and real-time analytics for cloud and mega datacenters, HFT, search engines, HPC, oil and gas industry applications, CDNs, VDI and enterprise environment.
The company will demonstrate new era of storage with Peaks Series at the 2018 Flash Memory Summit at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA, from August 7 to 9 and at the 2018 VMworld – at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV, from August 26 to 30. In addition, the firm will also showcase a complete product line of new generation NVMe storage servers, JBOF with SmartNIC cards, HA and all-flash array NVMe storage servers.
