Cloudian HyperStore Deployed by Enterprise Networking Solutions Inc.

2.8PB deployed on cluster of eight S3-compatible HSA4000 appliances

Cloudian, Inc. announced that its HyperStore products have been deployed by Enterprise Networking Solutions Inc. (ENS-Inc), a state of California IT solutions provider, as part of a storage-as-a-service (STaaS) offering for the state of California.

The solution, named STaaS On-Premises, is a cloud storage service provided on a subscription, pay-per-use basis by ENS-Inc. Already in use by more than 10 state and local agencies, the solution is provided to these agencies through the California Department of Technology (CDT).

STaaS On-Premises is available to customers with server environments located at our data centers or at a remote location,” the California Department of Technology said in a memo released when the service debuted. “STaaS provides four tiers of storage to meet the needs of our customers.

Storage tiers include tiers I and II, which are high-speed storage collocated with the customer’s servers, and tiers III and IV, which are high-capacity storage located in ENS-Inc’s data centers. HyperStore, deployed as the tier IV infrastructure, is employed for the most capacity-intensive data and image files.

S3-compatible object storage, a key project element, was a new service offering for us,” said Chad Hodges, director of business development, ENS-Inc. “Cloudian proved to be an excellent partner, providing the product, support and training we needed to make design and implementation quick and trouble-free.

Currently, California’s STaaS has 2.8PB of data deployed on a cluster of eight S3-compatible Cloudian HSA4000 appliances. Capacity deployed may reach 10PB in 2019 with further adoption by state and municipal government agencies.

Future growth may also include expansion to more states.

With the continued pressure that government agencies face to save cost and streamlne IT operations, we expect increased demand for this type of service,” Hodges continued. “Our background and proven expertise in deploying object storage as a part of California’s STaaS offering make ENS-Inc. a strong candidate to win more contracts and expand the impact of this technology.

State, county and municipal agencies today manage huge data sets while grappling with tight budgets and high service level expectations, a combination that is tough to meet,” said Jon Toor, CMO, Cloudian. “Innovation such as ENS-Inc’s STaaS offering, powered by Cloudian enterprise storage, provides a best-of-breed solution to today’s growing storage challenges by combining limitless scalability and superior S3 API compatibility with unbeatable operating efficiencies.
