Toshiba and Toshiba Solutions Assigned Patent
Storage device for selecting write destination of target data to nonvolatile memories having different erase limits based upon write interval
By Francis Pelletier | June 12, 2018 at 2:13 pmKabushiki Kaisha Toshiba, Minato-ku, Japan, and Toshiba Solutions Corp., Kawasaki-shi, Japan, has been assigned a patent (9,977,611) developed by Sekido, Kazunori, Kunitachi, Japan, for a “storage device, method, and computer-readable medium for selecting a write destination of target data to nonvolatile memories having different erase limits based upon a write interval.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “According to one embodiment, a storage device includes a storage, first data in which a sequence number indicating a write-completion order is associated with each erase unit area included in areas of the storage, second data indicating a relationship between each write interval and each write destination, a selection module which obtains the erase unit area corresponding to a logical address of target data to be written, calculates a write interval of the target data from a difference between the sequence number at an occurrence time of writing and the sequence number corresponding to the erase unit area of the first data, and selects the write destination corresponding to the write interval of the target data, and a write module which writes the target data to the selected write destination, and changes the sequence number when writing is completed for one erase unit area.”
The patent application was filed on September 15, 2016 (15/266,771).
