By Francis Pelletier | June 8, 2018 at 2:00 pmTshinghua Unversity, Beijing, China, has been assigned a patent (9,978,402) developed by Zheng, Quanshui, and Zhang, Shoumo, Beijing, China, for a “magnetic head, hard disk device, and method for transferring two-dimensional atomic crystal layer to head slider of magnetic head.“
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A magnetic head includes a head slider. The head slider includes a contact surface corresponding to a disk body, and the contact surface is a flat surface. The contact surface is coated with at least one smooth atomic-scale coating formed by a two-dimensional atomic crystal material. The head slider atomically contacts with the disk body.”
The patent application was filed on September 1, 2016 (15/255,105).
