Qnap Enterprise NAS Supporting Veritas Backup Exec
For all-in-one backup solution across physical, virtual and cloud environments
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 23, 2018 at 2:03 pmQNAP Systems, Inc. has become a partner in the Veritas Technologies, LLC ecosystem, providing a storage solution tailored for the data and system backup needs of SMBs.
An all-in-one backup NAS appliance solution is also made possible for users to deploy and configure their backup infrastructure faster and easier, providing a scalable backup storage for users running the Veritas Backup Exec solution on QNAP NAS.
Backup Exec 16 features an intuitive interface, allowing users to streamline their backup tasks across virtual, physical and connected cloud environments. Through deep integration with Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) and VMware vStorage˛ APIs for Data Protection (VADP), the Veritas application minimizes the impact on the CPU, memory, and I/O performance of the virtual host. Coupled with deduplication and changed-blocks tracking technology, the recovery time and disk space required for backup files are reduced. Backup Exec also supports the instant recovery of VMware and Hyper-V VMs, providing a usable copy of the server and data for DR, testing, and application deployment.
In the past, professional IT staff were required to deploy enterprise IT infrastructure and plan correlating backup solutions. With the integration of Backup Exec and NAS, these staff can easily use NAS as a backup storage. By installing Backup Exec˛ on Microsoft Windows Server running in QNAP’s Virtualization Station, users can turn the NAS into a backup appliance and perform VM or physical machine backup tasks on the NAS, providing users with a more cost-effective and scalable backup storage solution.
