150 Customers Choose Last Year Red Hat Container-Native Storage

Red Hat, Inc. announced that a growing number of organizations around the world are turning to its container-native storage offering to support the adoption of Linux containers.

In the last year, Red Hat has surpassed 150 customers worldwide adopting container-native storage with its Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environments. Customers such as Aragonesa de Servicios Telemáticos (AST), Generali Switzerland, IHK Gesellschaft für Informationsverarbeitung mbH (IHK-GfI), and Lufthansa Technik AG are using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform for cloud-native applications, and are representative of how organizations are seeking out scalable, fully integrated, developer-friendly storage for containers.

Based on Red Hat Gluster Storage, container-native storage from Red Hat offers these organizations scalable, persistent storage for containers across hybrid clouds with increased application portability. Integrated with OpenShift Container Platform, container-native storage from Red Hat can be used to persist application data and also data for logging, metrics, and the container registry.

The integration with OpenShift Container Platform helps developers provision and manage elastic storage for applications, and offers a single point of support. Customers use container-native storage to persist data for a variety of applications including SQL and NoSQL databases, CI/CD tools, web serving and messaging applications.

Organizations using container-native storage from Red Hat can benefit from simplified management, rapid deployment, and a single point of support. The versatility of container-native storage from the company can enable customers to run cloud-native applications in containers, on bare metal, in virtualized environments or in the public cloud.

Some recent examples of how enterprises are benefitting
from container-native storage from Red Hat include:

• Aragonesa de Servicios Telemáticos (AST): A Spanish public entity that has a mission to provide all the technical services necessary for the public administration of Aragon. AST deployed container-native storage from Red Hat along with OpenShift Container Platform to reduce its time to market, increase application development, and reduce operational costs.
• Generali Switzerland: A Swiss insurance company, Generali chose OpenShift Container Platform as its new central development and integration platform. As part of that deployment, it is using container-native storage from Red Hat to simplify integration and connect existing core systems with dynamic portals.
• IHK-GfI: IHK-GfI is the joint IT service provider for more than 70 chambers of industry and commerce in Germany. The operations team was interested in a more scalable and better performant storage solution for its container environment than the existing storage platform based on NFS (Network File System). IHK-GfI chose container-native storage from Red Hat along with OpenShift Container Platform for its performance over NFS and support for hybrid cloud deployments.
• Lufthansa Technik: Container-native storage from Red Hat was a key piece enabling Lufthansa Technik in its move to a hybrid cloud infrastructure with OpenShift Container Platform. The capabilities provided by the software help the customer’s development and operations teams work together more effectively in the development of its AVIATAR open platform or aviation industry customers.
