NAB: Object Matrix Selected AWS for Hybrid Storage Architecture

Combining MatrixStore and AWS S3 and Glacier

Object Matrix Ltd has selected AWS to offer a hybrid cloud storage architecture, which will enable customers to build flexible and cost effective storage solutions utilising on premises infrastructure, whilst benefiting from the elasticity of the cloud.

Object Matrix, a media focused private cloud platforms is offering a media solution based on a hybrid cloud architecture, combining its product MatrixStore, typically deployed on premises, and AWS storage services, Amazon S3 and Amazon Glacier.

MatrixStore enables high speed, high security, media production system integrations that are necessary for working with HD, 4K and 8K workflows. Combined, with Amazon S3 and Glacier, Object Matrix is able to deliver the scalability, security and flexibility needed to meet the growing challenges of monetising and protecting content whilst collaborating, on demand, with global teams.

The hybrid storage architecture enables operational and economic efficiencies, meaning asset (content and metadata) availability can be based on business and performance needs, such on-premises near line storage for localised production, or stored in as-a-service software packages that link to AWS for easy sharing across multiple geographic regions.

Jon Morgan, CEO, Object Matrix, commented: “MatrixStore ensures that assets are fully searchable across the entire hybrid platform, making them available for instant sharing, re-use, and distribution. Using AWS, we are able to make it much easier to monetise assets within the storage, and users get the added benefit of the scalability and data distribution provided by the cloud.

This hybrid approach provides for future growth, with on-premises MatrixStore scaled with new nodes containing new hardware types at any point, and with AWS services can be instantly, extended in the cloud.

Object Matrix will be demonstrating its hybrid storage architecture at NAB from April 7-12.
